If you're here, you’re probably curious about what I do—well, nice to meet you!
I’m Hallie Evans, a British-Filipino, Hong Kong-born freelance creative, and a Visual Communication student at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
My creative journey started at 13 when I was fascinated by designing tattoos, dreaming of being a tattoo artist or pursuing fine arts. Growing up surrounded by painting, I always loved illustrating by hand. But it was my love for music that led me to discover music and portrait photography. There’s something about capturing the raw, candid moments of people that really tells a story for me. By 17, I found that portraits were my calling, but I wanted to take it further—pushing myself to explore what else I could create.
As I continued experimenting, I found myself painting murals at school, customizing sneakers for family and friends, and photographing urban life in Hong Kong and on my travels. During the pandemic, I worked at a restaurant that commissioned me to paint a mural in one of the biggest malls in Hong Kong. That was my entry into digital art, where I created my first large-scale mural using a second-hand drawing tablet.
By the time I turned 20, I realized I missed the collaborative energy of studying in a group setting. So, I moved to Sydney in 2022 to study graphic design. It was there that I expanded my skills in illustration, motion design, digital design, branding, and web design. After completing my diploma, I decided to continue my studies in visual communication at UTS. This gave me the chance to dive into publications, experiment with motion design, grow my photography practice, and start exploring videography. I’ve loved pushing the boundaries of what I can do as a creative, while staying mindful of global issues and what it means to be a creative on Country.
Now, as I live, study, and work in Australia, I’m more committed than ever to creating work that’s not only innovative but also sustainable and conscious of my impact on the world.
